Been drawing again. Here's some art I've put up on deviantArt. Enjoy:

So last night, after many runs, many deaths, and many Nightmares, we finally beat Diabolos Prime for the first time. We had 3 monk/warriors (2 75 monks, 1 71 monk with Asuran Fists), 1 red mage/dark knight (for Chainspell + Stun, Stun, Stun!), 1 black mage/white mage, and 1 white mage/black mage (me). Here's a guide on how to beat him... )

The black mage only had time for one spell before Diabolos was dead. I only cast 2 Cure IVs and 1 Cure V before he was dead. By the way, remember you can cancel your Stoneskin if Diabolos does cast Sleepga so the poison will wake you up.

Once you beat this badass, go to back to Kerutoto in Windurst Waters to make him your slave (or you could chose one of the other rewards given for beating him).

Welcome to the playground. Phantasmagoria! )

I actually uploaded two new fanart pieces on my deviantArt account:

Mithra - shading practice

Candle in the Dark

It's late and I don't feel like re-posting what I wrote for these two artworks. Just go see them on deviantArt. Yes, I have a new scanner thanks to the wonderful [personal profile] aslann. ^^ Ok, time to get ready for bed. >.>;

Hmm... It's been a while since I've posted here... Mostly because I haven't been doing much art, or really feel like posting it anymore. >.>;;;

Anyway, here's a work in progress picture:

WIP - head portrait of my FFXI character

Sorry for the distorted picture, but, since I don't have a scanner, I borrowed [personal profile] aslann's digital camera. =X

So, remember the Work In Progress I posted earlier? It's done!

This is already posted under the picture, but I might as well repeat it here:

This drawing was done fully in Photoshop from the black outlines to the coloring. I'm not sure exactly how long I worked on this, but this drawing is at least 1-2 years old since I started the outline at least a year ago. I'd say at least 8 hours if not more. This character really didn't come from any series I know of; the only influence on this image is Yuna's hair beads, and even then, I designed the beads myself.

When I first started this drawing, the girl did not have a name. But when I was close to finishing her, I realized her name should be Amber due to the color of her hair. This is one of the few drawings where the subject is actually smiling. =) There are things that could be fixed, but overall, I'm very happy with the result.

I was afraid I wouldn't think up of a good background, but I'm really happy with the background I made. XD Woo!

Currently learning how to color in Photoshop with a tablet. ;P I've done it before with varying degrees of success, but this is the first time I'm actually going to do it on a regular basis unless I get a different program to color with. (Painter maybe?)

WIP - Girl with Hair Beads

I think I need to redo the eyes again. >.< Maybe too purple or something... I think I want them to be more indigo-y. Constructive criticism is welcome, though technically this isn't even finished yet. ^^;

Aslann, Sephi, and I did three runs on BCNM 30 - Petrifying Pair last night. Here are the drops and the exact times of the runs along with comments:

Strategy, drop lists, and completion times. )

So, we didn't get that many good drops. =/ Oh well.

Last night on FFXI, Aslann, Sephi, and I did the "Petrifying Pair" level 30 BCNM at the Ghelsba Outpost.

BCNMs are a sort of controlled fight where you trade a type of orb (in this case, a Sky Orb) to a target (usually in a dungeon area). To get the orb, you need to go to a NPC in Port Jeuno and trade in beastman seals that you've collected while you were killing monsters. These seals cannot be traded to any other player, so you either keep them or dump them. The amount of beastman seals you trade to the NPC depends on the level cap of the BCNM fight. So, for the "Petrifying Pair" fight, you trade 30 beastman seals to get the Sky Orb. Each player can hold one orb, so all three of us got orbs for this fight. If you want a more detailed explanation, the FFXI section for has a great summary: FFXI Burning Circle Notorious Monster (BCNM) Guide.

Anyway, the reason why we went to do this was because I wanted to get a pair of leaping boots. Well, since I was going as a ranger subbing ninja, I was borrowing Aslann's emperor's hairpin and his leaping boots, so technically any boots that dropped would go to him and I'd just keep "his" boots. The boots are "rare", so a player can only have one of them If anyone tries to keep two, one of them will be automatically dropped from his inventory. Since the boots are worth around 800k in gil... Um, that's a really expensive item to lose. XD (Well, for me, anyway. 800k is still a lot for me.)

Keep in mind that almost all the gear I wear when exping as a ranger is Aslann's... not mine. I think the only gear that's mine is the bow, crossbows, ammo, any ninja crack (ninjutsu tools), mercenary captain's belt (I think it's mine?), and my ranger's necklace (which was quested). Earrings, rings, noct gear, hairpin, and boots are all Aslann's. Oh, I have a Tomahawk axe, but I didn't use it for this fight. XD

Original Strategy )

What items dropped: )

A really thorough listing of all items that can drop from this BCNM can be found at the FFXI section of BCNM 30: Petrifying Pair

All in all, we did ok. We might do this again tonight using our Aslann's strategy. [ profile] aslan294 was the one who came up with this strategy and the supply lists by looking at another strategy posted on Allakhazam. So the real leader is Aslann; I'm just typing this up for memory's sake. XD
